Who Are We

Pervasive Communications, LLC is the latest member of Surface Companies, Inc.—a family of companies that traces its history and lineage from 1884. Evolving through time, we have served markets from local, regional, national, to international in scope. Our operations have included manufacturing, distribution, multi-store retail and international sourcing.

Throughout this time, we have accumulated knowledge and experience in the one common thing required for profitability of any commercial enterprise—the ability to deliver the right message to the right people at the right time. While often these messages focus on marketing of products or services, our services are not limited to just "marketing" efforts. Where ever there is a need to consistently deliver a message, Pervasive Communications is the right partner to deliver results.

Headquartered in the greater Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area, we bring  the heartland work ethic and values  to serving our prospective as well as existing customers. Our corporate culture is to bring good value to our customers, doing whatever is in our power to help our customers in their success.

Pervasive operates two offices to serve prospective or existing customers, located anywhere in North America:.

  • Kansas City, Missouri—Corporate Office, Customer Services, Sales. Open 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM CT

Key Personnel

Michael F. Surface Principal Michael got an early start watching how a family business that was founded in 1884 worked.  From childhood through high school years, the key element was being able to watch and listen. Starting by doing anything and everything that was assigned until later in high school learned the retail business with a passion. 

While in college, at Boston University, earning a BA degree with emphasis in marketing, spent free time traveling to New York and up and down the coast visiting businesses that had belonged to a national marketing and buying group. This experience and observation helped form a business model that was radically different at that time.

After graduation, coming home with that business model in mind, formed a company that created joint ventures with off-shore manufacturers. This experience allowed practical use of the learning experiences. Creating the product, designing the merchandising, implementing the marketing of what grew into thirteen brands with 35 product lines that was distributed throughout North America.

It was over the years of competing with Fortune 500 Companies that developed my strong sense of marketing and how marketing creates the environment and the engagement of prospects for sales to be realized.

Today, Pervasive Communications is the culmination of the years of hands-on marketing experience. 

“In that time frame I have seen about every marketing strategy there is; the remarkable aspect is that the tools and terminologies change but the basic element is the same.”  We use that same unchanging element with new media. New media, done correctly, is long term, with great speed and is very cost effective.

 

J. Nicholas Bennett Sales Manager Nick, after graduate school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, started his information technology career in the early 1970s. Through a progression of career steps, experience includes application programming, systems programming, project management, product management (including product and services marketing), technology analysis and technology-related business consulting.

Nick joined Surface Companies, Inc. in June of 2010 and is a a founding participant of Pervasive Communications.
